After the robbery, workers at a Saint-Esprit fast food restaurant demanded more security

The day after last night’s robbery (November 7, 2022) at BKB (Bo Kay Burger) in Morne Lavalleur in Saint-Esprit, the employees returned to their posts. Some of them have knots in their stomachs and their hearts are racing, but they have to work. They want more protection and resettlement.

On November 7, 2022, at around 8:30 pm, two BKB employees were in fear of their lives.

As they were closing up the fast food restaurant, 3 hooded men, one of them with a gun, came through the front door of the back store to demand the recipe.

A young employee did not hesitate. He opened the safe. The robbers made off with a week’s revenue, the amount of which we were not told. An amount that will likely be paid by insurance.

Gendarmes arrive at the scene to investigate and take fingerprints. The young man and his colleague had to go to the Saint-Esprit gendarmerie for their statement.

The young man’s father and girlfriend came home in the middle of the night and expressed their concern. They were especially happy to find him safe and sound.

BKB, installed for 4 years, is on the main axis between Holy Spirit and Dukos. The restaurant is especially busy during the day.

In the evening, around 8 o’clock, when the service station closes, it is quite quiet. The residents of the housing estate just opposite are almost all in front of their screens. No one could hear the sound of the armed robbery upon receiving the news.

This Tuesday, November 8, 2022, there is no sign of the robbery. There was no breakdown.

At noon, as usual, the establishment opens to serve its customers.

It is the employees who reap the benefits. They are anxious, restless and anxious.

Among them, only one man, who faced the robbers with firearms.

He resumed his service. According to him, “You have to face your fears”.

When she walked through the door, her heart skipped a beat. The robbery replayed in his head like a movie. Everything seemed to last forever but was over after 5 minutes.

The thieves waited for the closing time at 8:30 p.m. It’s been half an hour since the curtain of the gas station next door was lowered. It was dark, the perfect time to attack.

Today, the Morne Lavallee restaurant in Saint-Esprit exceptionally closes at 6 p.m. The young man does not have the courage to stay till 8:30 p.m.

Employees want a security guard present in the evenings and surveillance cameras installed outside the building. For the moment, secure facilities from cash registers and remote monitoring.

Employees also want the establishment to close at 8 p.m., the same time as the gas station next door.

The administration declined to comment. The robbers are still on the run. The police investigation is continuing.
